Kitchen and Bath Remodel Timing in Central Florida: What Has to Start in September

Aug 25, 2026

If you want a new kitchen or bath ready before Thanksgiving, the work has to start in September. That is not a sales line. It is the calendar. Cabinets, tile, and fixtures take weeks to arrive, and Central Florida crews fill up once fall hosting season is in sight.

Sunshine Remodeling scopes kitchens, bathrooms, and the floors that have to change with those rooms. One plan. One schedule. One visit to the house.

Why September, not October

A full kitchen is rarely a two-week job. Demolition, rough-in, cabinets, counters, backsplash, and a finished floor each wait on the step before them. A primary bath is shorter, but it still waits on tile, the vanity, and the plumber's return trip.

Order the cabinets in September and you still have lead time in front of install. Wait until mid-October and you are asking the same job to land in the same week everyone else wants their house back. Thanksgiving week is a hard stop for most families. We will not promise a holiday finish if the materials are not even on a truck.

What actually has to start now

Walk the rooms first. If the kitchen layout is changing, that decision has to happen before anyone orders boxes. Same for a bath: keep the fixture locations or move them. Moving a drain or a vent is a different job than a like-for-like swap.

Then lock the finishes that have a wait. Stock cabinets and a standard vanity move faster. Custom sizes, a specific quartz, and tile that is not on a local shelf do not. Flooring that runs from the kitchen into the living room has to be chosen with the cabinet color, not after.

If you are in Clermont, Winter Garden, Windermere, Montverde, or elsewhere in Greater Orlando, the humidity and the way these houses are built matter. We measure the actual rooms. We do not drop a catalog kitchen onto a house we have not walked.

Kitchen versus bath on the calendar

A single hall bath, same footprint, is the one that can still make a late-September start and be done before the first big dinner. A kitchen with new cabinets and a new floor needs that September start if "done for the holidays" is the goal.

A kitchen plus a bath at the same time can work if we sequence them so you keep one working sink. That only happens when both rooms are scoped together. Two separate bids from two different calendars is how a house stays torn up through December.

What can wait

A powder room that nobody uses on Thanksgiving can wait. A closet. A second-phase floor in a bedroom. We will tell you what should wait so the rooms you actually host in are finished.

We will not invent a one-week kitchen. If the job is six weeks, you will see six weeks before we order anything.
